As many of you know I rent space in a self dog wash and one thing I always get ask is why does my dog never look like he does when he or she has been groomed? The one thing that I tell everyone is that dog grooming is not as easy as it look's it entails a lot of work! The one thing that is a must is the dog MUST be clean, so what does that mean well shampoo must be applied to all parts of the body and before you start to apply the shampoo rinse the dog well make sure all of the dog is good and wet. After you apply a good amount of shampoo on your dog you and then use a rubber bathing brush or your hand but make sure you really scrub get to the skin and make sure they are clean. Now you will be ready to start the conditioning now for a short haired dog this mean's let it sit for 5 minutes and rinse now for those of you that have long haired dog this will mean that you brush the conditioner threw the hair please keep in mind how hand you brush after all the hair is wet and you don't want this to hurt, then rinse and make sure that it is all out don't phone this part in! Now on to drying many people say my dog hates the dryer sometimes this means you need to work with the dog and other times it means the dog can only be caged dried and that would mean it is best for a groomer to do it. Why is drying so important, well by drying the dog 100% will blow all loss hair out and blow mattes loss so they can be brushed out. By not brushing the mattes out are setting your dog up for a painful dematting session with the grooming or a shave down I hope this help's please feel free to ask about grooming and I will help if I can.
